Hello. I’m Gary
My father is a master carpenter and had his own woodworking & cabinet business. He is retired now but he was the best carpenter I have ever known.
I started in construction as a laborer working for my dad’s customers when I was a teenager, back when contractors did things the hard way.
I left construction in 1977, after graduating, and got into heavy equipment and became a diesel mechanic.
I returned to construction in 1990 and became a renovation contractor. I then started Evans Construction in 1993 when I started designing and building new homes in Vernon and throughout the North Okanagan.
I became a registered builder with The B.C. & Yukon New Home Warranty Program.
I moved to Cranbrook (my brother lives there) in 1996 building new homes. In 1998 I moved to Calgary to work on framing houses because construction was so slow in British Columbia. This is when I became a very good framing contractor.
I moved back to Vernon in 2004 and have been a General Contractor since.
I was a contributing contractor on the Mike Holmes Forums ( Holmes on Homes) from 2010 till 2012 when the forums were shut down.
I now do the same thing on the “DIY Chatroom” forums where I give advice and help solve problems for homeowners from across Canada and the United States and even around the world.
I am very knowledgeable, honest and friendly, and my priority is to do the best job I can for my customer.
